Anyone got any experience or know much about the Vauxhall Vivaros from around 17 throught to 20plates?I used to love a Vauxhall diesel years ago but aint got a clue about the later ones. Its time to get rid of my pathfinder as its 11years old now and although it's always been serviced religiously it's got a few miles on it now and although it does everything I want I dont really need a 2.5 4x4.I need something I can chuck all my tools in the back.Get one of my scooters in if needs must.Be a bit higher than an estate as the lanes round here are shit and I wrecked my last estate motor Audi A6 s line. And also have rear seats.Ive been looking at the vivaro crew cabs as they're a bit smaller in than the origional vivaros and seem to tick the boxes.I do like the vw transporters and the merc vitos but they're holding ridiculous money.20k for a 6/7 year old van but would like to know a bit more about the newer Vauxhalls ie reliability or known faults.

At that age it's just same as a Renault trafic.

19 onwards it's same as a Peugeot expert / Citroen dispatch

Nothing vauxhall about them apart from the badge

my brother has a newish vivaro van with low miles on it, when it`s running nice it`s good, but he`s had some sensors go on it already....not something i would be happy about on a low millage newish van....and it`s not cheap to put the sensors right....thing is, you tend to think that buying a newer van should last you a good few years, but, there is so much crap on new vehicles these day (sensors, computers, catalytic, etc etc..) that they go sooner rather than later.....i use to have the older Vauxhall movano vans which i never had problems with, very reliable, i use to run up to London every day and never let me down, if it was me....i would be looking for an older van that`s not got all the crap on them...

Ok,But do you know if they are any good?

Plenty of older model ones still going strong with plenty miles on them .

Newer ones ain't just as reliable seen a few with engines gone ect

Though like everything keep things well maintained and looked after and they should last .

Did they change engine from Renault to Citroen ?

I was under the impression all those vans (Vauxhall, Nissan, Renault) used the Renault engine ??

And I believe the newer Citroens/Peugeot use a wet belt now ?

Is that correct ?
I wouldn’t touch anything with a wet belt with a barge pole myself.

Older ones were Renault..

19 onwards are ford or PSA engines.

Some people say Wet belts are ok if serviced right and using the correct oil but Im still undecided.. though ford, PSA group and VW are all using them .

What is it to get a wet belt service ? £800-1200 ?…..and you HAVE to service them very regular or it’s an engine you’ve gone and done.

Rangers the same from what I can make out ?

Can’t help but conclude they are building things to break now days…..older is better in many regards imho.

Just my uneducated take on it.

I’ve seen a lot of wet belt failures, at least with a chain you get a warning, with the wet belt they just strip teeth, all the manufacturers are recommending you only use their oil because too many people are using the wrong oil, even garages servicing them, I would stay away from a wet belt

The debris as the belts deteriorate block the oil strainer thing as well from what I have seen ?

Yeah, the belt breaks down and blocks the strainer, starving the top end of oil, my mate is seeing a couple a month in his garage, they are charging engines, no rebuilds, very expensive when they go wrong

So what mid size vans aint using wet belts these days?I know with my pathfinder they were prone to snapping chains so as soon as I bought it I paid a grand and had a duplex chain conversion.I knew the Fords were best given a swerve because of the wet belts but didn't know other manufacturers were using them
