What lurchers have you got and what speeds have you clocked them at?

Just a collie cross. But she has a great nose and high drive and covers a lot of ground fast. All cover and woodland by me. The mph reported is not accurate but it reports when she is running or trotting or just walking and the gps is accurate so you can see her travelling on the map and the speed.
Even reports her treed if she rears up on a tree marking a squirrel lol

Different ways of hunting with lurcher require a gps , my lurchers never on a lead really only if Iv got to cross a road and sometimes just hold the collar and run haha

Its due to the American using them for hunting hogs. So the british have to follow. 🤣. Honest if you mentioned GPS to old men poaching men. They'd laugh you out of boozer. Terrier men that are using the technology have to. But a dog over here shouldn't be far away for you to just follow the hunt. Its more of follow the next man. Lads watch YouTube vids. Someone gets one on here or lads see on fb pages. Next min every fuckers got them.

Although I’ve never used, or wanted to use gps tracking on my dogs, of course there’s far more to lurcher work than point and slip coursing !

I fully understand the use of gps and thermal imagery, but as someone who works mainly without permission, that’s a lot to invest in if it gets confiscated !
If I worked permission, I would probably think about gps.

Cheers.

Ive had lurchers most my life. Not once have I had to put a GPS collar on. Ive run all the land on M62 from near from drax up towards howden. Other side towards dishforth, All around near me on A1. Not once have I used a GPS. never lost a dog , Dogs have run out of view. Ive heard them if they've pulled a roe you cant not hear them with nose they make. Running foxes on arable land day time. The dog should be killing them in first few acres. Hares a dont want a dog that's just driving them. A want a dog spinning them straight away underpressure. Can't do with dogs that just run them. A want a dog that knows what its mouths for. Some of us have high standards. Im there to get the runs and off the land. Im not one to be filming trying to prove to next man by posting clips. All the good memories are stored in my head. All this technology has f****d hunting up.

Thats lurcher work not coursing charts. You know that your from the old skool days. Don't take offence to that. But you go into local boozer and spoke about GPS to the old poaching guys. They'd laugh me out of boozer lol. That's truth. f***ing GPS. Like a say we've followed the Americans.

Doesnt matter where i were wouldn't need a GPS , that's not being funny mate. Im talking lurchers wearing GPS. Im not one to go looking for a lurcher. Im not playing catch up having to f***ing walk miles. Im there to see the dog working infront of me. Its ment to be a pleasure to watch the dog run  what evers put infront of it. Youll get the odd run that ends up out of view but not too far that im having to keep walking miles to pin point the c**t on a GPS. Most my dogs when they've killed hares or rabbit they'll bring back to hand or a few yards infront. That's due to being trained from a pup with rabbit fur dummy. Its each to there own. You use them I wouldn't.
