It is a faff, again, this morning he gulped his food down, half a pound of mince, couple of hours ago tried him with the rest of the sleeve and he wouldn't touch, gave him a raw egg cos he lapped it up yesterday and didn't bother.

To mess about like this you really need a separate fridge/freezer because handling raw meat, then chucking it back in a dish and back in your fridge you're going to contaminate it sooner or later. Lol

It’s no faff mate when you get into the swing of it , sealed Tupperware tub bottom shelf of fridge , no contamination, it will keep fresh for 24hrs … give him a few chicken wings , but just the tips to start with …. Cheap , low fat ,good protein been feeding nothing but barf/raw for 18 years now . I fed my pup from 9 weeks on demand at first then whe; he stopped looking for food I gave him regular amounts twice a day , started off doing over a lb a day then dropped back a little . I weighed him weekly for quite a while  , I’ve the notes somewhere on my phone . Was gaining round a kilo a week steady as far as I can remember

They aren't daft, if they are off the slip and you spot something they haven't seen and try and quietly call them so you can grab em by the collar and point them in the direction their ears automatically perk up and they start scouting the land cos they know you've spotted something lol.

Sometimes it's nice to put you both somewhere...and just watch what's moving around from place to place... teaches them patience and steadies them up...I've never had a problem with any pup,f***ing off in to the distance,or hunting up on the lamp if it   missed something ...from pups I make sure they want to be around me and please me... hardest thing, I've personally found to be honest is getting a dog to switch on to hunting the hills/forestry blocks, has to be 100% with stock ,hunting, despatching stuff well away from you👍DSC_1740.JPG.bfbf560bf8c4997622789705b88103c6.JPG

I agree with ya mate I wouldn’t have a dog f***ing about after a run mines is straight back if she’s gone for any length of time I know she’s killed what she’s been running and will be retrieving it back, but there’s a difference from a dog been aloud to hunt up “under control “ and a dog just f***ing off and hunting up doing what it likes coming back on its own terms I think your more on about the latter where as charts is more on about letting the dog hunt up “under control “ not everyone just runs big open fields either some land you’ve got to let the dog have a hunt around under control or you’d never get a run unless you had a thermal.
Another pet hate is a dog pulling the full length of the walk “aye he’s just keen “ f**k that nothing enjoyable about getting pulled around the place every time you’re out on the land.

Decent size flat land dog on a slip, let it run and then straight back on the slip no f***ing about  after the run move on to the next one …

Ive never heard of old coursing men letting there dogs hunt up on its own. Just saying it sounds ludicrous lol. Ive always got that dog on the slip. Can you imagine long slips and sometimes dogs dont see it till its too late. Then dogs starts hunting up. But you spot another out in open. And your trying to get the dogs attention but it's on the scent around the cover  the hare B lined for , but long gone over next bit of land behind. A want a dog that when it knows the hares done one on it. A want the dog to come back straight away.
