He spent money making the discarded booster stage re-usable by having it return to the ground undamaged. Please, please do even the most basic research before trying to sound clever. Cheers. Putting humans on the moon is amongst the most technically complex programs humanity could currently undertake. It’s comparable to a state spinning up a nuclear submarine fleet or a super carrier strike group where they previously had none and had no other state to mentor them. It takes a top tech company in a truly saturated market 18-36 months to launch a new phone. It takes an entire country 30 years to knock out a next gen nuclear submarine fleet. When the UK got back into the carrier strike game its taken literal decades to get to operating capability, and that’s with historic experience in such products and a big brother to mentor us. What do you do for a living?

They gave up because they achieved their strategic goals of ruining the soviets and regaining the optics of being the best. The ROI of continuing was basically shite. So what do you do for a living that gives you the experience and knowledge to comment on how difficult product development / program management is?
