Never been massive rabbit numbers here but you do see them, they are hanging on in there.

I wonder what the hare numbers are like compared to days of old?

Alot of rabbits now like to stay in cover or under ground or near the warrens in cover. There's a few warrens near me that you'd think are dead. But there's fresh shit all over. They come out at night due to that many walkers. So the numbers are there just very shy at day time.

I've been watching a brace of hares local on some land. For past few weeks. Came down the road yesterday an one was flat on the road. Same here not many about so was gutted to see it. Was hoping that numbers would build up again. You've got c**ts hunting out of season. Mainly shooting. Some around here have killed the area. Don't let numbers build back up. That goes for any quarry.

hare numbers have been highest for years here, but dropped off last winter, I think some arsehole has been lamping them, I always think they react badly to the lamp and it's no test of a dog

True no sport in lamping an hare's really. Think when you get older you realise this. I've done it when a was younger. But now there's no sport in lamping hare's.
