Working cover with my little hounds He's a nice strong type, a pal had one similar. very driven dog a little on the big size but if we tipped him in we'd be knocking a hole to him every time Quote Link to post

welch warrior 65
Personally I found they excelled one the rock piles and the undiggable places. The blue bitch was real hard and could/would finnish the job if you didn't get to her quick enough. 10 1 Quote Link to post

Nice to see Welch , they seem to be making a come back. theres two lads local to me dig to theirs. think they are 1/8 or 1/16 fell type but look just like beddies. they're approx 14 to the shoulder , no bigger and narrow. mainly hunt work but they are a bit rough . keep posts coming mate its grand to see ATB T 4 Quote Link to post

Great to see Bedlington types working the rock with hounds and lurchers. I'm a huge Beddy (and Beddy crossbred) fan. Though tbh, I've never seen a decent one in the field, nevermind earthwork. And that's only because I've not had the opportunity to do so, but I very much believe the 'real deals' are out there. In the 80's i got to meet a few enthusiasts, like George Newcombe and Terry Athern to name but two, and although I wasn't in a position to own a Beddy then, those days really did give the breed/type a platform to see they wouldn't go under. I was sold on George's enthusiastic talks about them and longed to own one, but it's just never materialised. Thing is, we've had a few breeders on here, most of which seen them as something only a select few should own. Which I find a shame, and only detrimental to the breed standards over time, as the gene pool gets smaller, and less animals are 'fully tested'... Quote Link to post

welch warrior 65
Both decent foxing bitchs, the bedlington bitch was a good un for hound work and on&in the rocks. The Russell bitch if I ever had a wish to have a dog over again it would be her, she would see and shift more foxes in a season that all of the other 3 terriers that I had put together because of her style and reliability. 3 Quote Link to post
