Environmental service

Recommended Posts

Well just been reading that last year around Yorkshire & north east over 30 people were caught without a rod licence. The environment officers turning up at these private syndicate lakes & puddles. 😆. A thought with it being private & not owned by the river or canal trust or local councils. They wouldn't be able to do them for it with it being private. ?

Was going to start a new topic about sea fishing and not having to have a rod licence ?. I've only just learned that you will need one , if fishing off a pier or harbour due to them being private. Which a didn't know that until now.

nothing new, always needed a rod licence, not sure if there are still 2 types (migratory fish and coarse) then you needed a permit from whoever held the rights to the water, never heard of needing one in any salt water or tidal water though.

You are going to see more checks being carried out, The EA and Angling trust are in talks to create a level below there enforcement officer's. Like special constables in the police force. they will carry a warrant unlike the Voluntary bailiffs they have now,  This is in partly due to the increase in amount of fish that have been taken for the table or resale from our waters.

Nobody bothers you a know that its happened for years people fishing off the pier's & harbours. But they are privately owned so people need to be careful specially the green ones that just chuck the rods out near boats in the harbours. May find themselves stuck if they hit somebody's pleasure boat.

That's the idea but whether it will fully get off the ground is another matter.

If your targeting sea fish with sea tackle in an estuary you dont need a rod licence...any seatrout, salmon, non migratory trout and fresh water eels  you fish for in an estuary...you need a valid EA rod licence bangers👍

That's permits to fish not a rod licence. As in you pay at a little office to access the pier or pay the owner of a private dock for access
