I wonder what Amy Whinehouse would've of achieved if she'd of lived, only 27 when she died and still considered one of the best... unique voice and talent for sure

Loathed her ! Lol

Watched an interesting documentary on her the other day...she wasn't afraid to stand by her opinions and suffered massively because of it...a lot to be admired even if her views don't align with yours imo

Here’s a thing, I can admire someone who hold strong views and stands by them even if they don’t align with mine but for her, I didn’t believe a word of it half the time.

Nobody has space for that many different “causes”…..it’s the nutty bird who always gets battered on cider on a weekend down the pub that everyone avoids ! Lol

Being a little younger than you, I got into the stones music after they had produced all their best music... must've been exciting to hear it first time as there was nothing else like it, I suppose in more recent years only rap/hip hop or perhaps dance music could be comparable as most music is reworked on the classic rock/blues/pop parameters..

As said i like the 70s stuff by the stones, beast of Burden, Tumbling Dice, Angie, Wild Horses, Brown Sugar etc...  but Sympathy for the Devil and Gimme Shelter are massive songs and must've beeb so far removed from anything else in the late 60s?

Out went the brylcreem, the winkle pickers and the quiffs. In came long hair without the grease, levis and tie die T-shirts. In the fifties all generations listened to Elvis, Sinatra and Cliff Richard. As if overnight, teenagers had their own music, fashions and music. We weren't as brow beaten as previous generations and didn't mind adopting our hairstyles and fashions even though at the time it was considered revolutionary and dangerous to have hair down to your arse. My old man was convinced I was a poof. Especially when I started to wear after shave.LOL My biggest regret was the inability to grow sideburns until I was 20. A year later I was snatched and made to become a child groom. So I missed out on all the free love...but that was largely a myth.Lol.

I've never quite understood how that explosive change happened in the sixties, so many new sounds and why was the Uk the birthplace? The only music we listened to from America was the soul/tamla motown stuff which in itself was completely new and brilliant.

Fair enough mate, the calling out of the child molestation in the Catholic Church and ripping up the photo if the pope on live TV was the end of her in many ways and she knew it, well at least the end for mainstream media... she was proven right of course years later... the booing she got at the Bob Dylan concert showed what most of the world thought of her views at that time, again the masses still believed that she was the anti christ for speaking out.... I'm with you on a lot of her later stuff and turning to Islam, id have more respect if she stayed completely away from religion after out Catholism as you can't jump in bed with Islam based on child grooming!!

Interesting character though, more guts than most of the churned out pouting pop stars today!
