A lad I know has had a bit of a mid life epiphany, after spending his life working first in banking and then building community projects he has gone off to be a chef on the Scilly Isles and do open water swimming in his spare time…..never took a car, cycled down there.

He went to France on his bike last year and stayed for a few months.

Don’t  know what his wife and kids made of it, I rather got the impression he had enough of my old area and decided he couldn’t take it anymore but his wife is born and bred and didn’t want to leave…..so he went on his own !

I’ve fancied going Scilly for a few years now. I reckon it’d be pricey though. Looks heavenly!

Watched last night Tomo knew most of the places on the South coast of Devon plenty nice little camp sites in the Southhams. I always wan't to go to the Scilly's and never got around to it, probably won't now. But still haven't seen all of Devon yet Lol, lived here all my life.

If any you guys coming down to South Devon and want few pointers PM me I will see what I can do.

Cheers Arry

West Country, Devon and Cornwall are pretty decent, although I've never bin to the scilly Isles, I did want to back along but cooled on the idea of late.

Atlantic is keeping us a little cooler at the mo but still warm. Shortly off for a run, dogs can gallop and play in the surf whilst I plod around the coast.

The difference between  A and  B roads.  The B roads have two wheel tracks with grass in the middle The A roads  are much the same other than having occasional passing places. Motorways are northern contraptions that don't exist in proper country.

I'd sooner drive the narrow lanes than duel carriageways and motorways. Its well handy knowing the network of lanes when there are traffic jam or heavy traffic mate.

Lads...

Devon and Cornwall is shit, no decent roads (unless you can drive backwards as well as forwards you never get anywhere!), hardly any wifi anywhere, cow shit everywhere, the locals have more fingers and toes than you can count, no underground, no uber... the list goes on...

I strongly recommend everyone giving the South West a miss, there are far better places to go to and see....honestly...?

It's essential viewing in my house.?

Although I was born in Hampshire, all my childhood holidays were in the West Country and, when I took a Fine Art degree I chose Falmouth. Lovely place, though I've no idea if it's changed much in the intervening thirty years. As part of the course we spent a week camping and sketching in the Scilly Isles. It's an amazing place. Crystal clear water, no speed limit as there's not enough room on the roads to need one, saw a merlin and a hobby...the list goes on.

I introduced my wife to the delights of Devon and Cornwall before we were married and we spent our honeymoon in Belstone (coincidentally that's near where the farmer with the kelpies lives) and go back there several times every year. We'd love to move there and almost did about three years ago but, unfortunately, something put a spanner in the works. I won't go into details as I'd hate to slag off my lovely mother in law online.?

One day...?
