I got fined £70 when I was 16 for salmon, the only time I was caught during hundreds of times on the bank, it was addictive once you knew the fish were running.

Most fish I had in a weekend was 120'ish,i was still at school, that was salmon and sea trout, I made quite a bit of money out of fish as a kid, but even if I had made nowt I would have still been at it.

Mac you have just ruined the romantic image in my head of you feeding a family of 24, whilst waist deep in ice cold water up a burn in the middle of the night while using a bloody BQ plastic garden fork lol.

I still have an electro-fishing backpack machine in the UK, incredible bit of kit for coaxing fish out, haven't had salmon with it but wouldn't mind trying it in a shallow pool.

Wouldn’t mind a play with one them ? got few spots if love to test it out on ?

The only problem with them is they are too effective. I was once in a stream looking for big trout, a lot of smaller ones were floating and righting themselves then swimming off when I released the live switch, then something was floating, it was a pike,I went to pick it out of the water as it was too big for the net BANG it was like I had been smashed by decca heggie, I had forgotten to release the off switch ?
