Not really, if they can all get medical exemptions because of "asthma."

I won’t argue the point anymore mate, it’s too ludicrous for words ?

Who would of thought so much interest, investment and science went into 11 poofters playing a children's ball game.  Wanna get a life

If it's from Bosun or All Terrain ..ignore it .

Sorry mate ,you've put the wrong link up, that one just says that a professor heard a rumour and doesn't know where it came from ,and that ten years ago a percentage suffered exercise induced asthma (

Ahh, it was some of those twitter/gossip type web sites mate where “juicy” little rumours get circulated about…..it’s a few years old now but keeps resurfacing as these things tend to do.

Its out there on the web anyway and I’m sure Utd and Everton fans plunge right in feet first ! Lol

The recent one about Liverpool has not been confirmed, but there's truth in it,published data from this guy

So we decided to provide some evidence-based analysis and spoke to the country’s leading expert on asthma in elite athletes, Professor John Dickinson, the Head of the Exercise Respiratory Clinic at the University of Kent, about the issue.

Dickinson has worked with Premier League clubs, the England national team and Olympic athletes in both diagnosing and treating asthma, as well as publishing numerous research papers on the topic. Our Q&A with him is below:

Q. Any basis to this figure of 22 of 35 Liverpool players being asthmatic?

Professor John Dickinson: The rumour I saw was 63%, as you say. There is no official data out there on this. A club is not going to pin the number of players that are using various medications on a board somewhere. I think that’s what this is - a rumour. Where it came from, who knows?

Back in 2010/11 I did screen the club’s first-team squad and we published a paper on it. That was back in the days when Dr Peter Brukner was Head of Sports Medicine and Science at Liverpool and Zafar Iqbal was first-team doctor.

About 25% of the players had exercise-induced asthma. A lot of clubs wouldn’t have let us publish that data, but they saw it as, ‘We’re doing best practice here and we want to tell everyone about it

Right, what folks have to understand is how these things are measured and what is ignored.

So, the standard is Perfect !!

Anything less than perfect is recorded because it has to be.

Everything in a football clubs medical procedures is not only player welfare but it’s also an ongoing risk assessment for the club of a multi million pound asset.

If you think it’s like going to your GP, it isn’t !

If you think is like being under a microscope and even the tinniest little thing recorded with absolutely nothing disregarded, it is !

Everyone writing in this thread is probably walking around with some degree of asthma or some other thing…..but it don’t matter because we ain’t worth millions of pounds and it won’t effect our life span to any great degree……it’s so tiny and mild it don’t even matter, but with elite players it’s recorded !

If an elite player has a chipped toenail, it’s recorded…..if he is 6 oz overweight, it’s recorded…..when they plug him into the state of the art machines and do all the bloods, check his teeth and piss and ecg like they do so many times over the course of the season, every single detail is recorded !

To say “oh they have all got asthma” is so basic it’s like saying flying the space shuttle is the same as passing your driving test…..honestly lads, believe me on this ?

I disagree mate, in football at least….what they will be on is medication to carry them through injuries but only if it’s safe, nobody is going to ruin a multi million pound asset long term by doping them through a couple of games.

They just don’t need to, the treatment and recovery science is too good now days.

? come on wilf
