Surprise in the scrap metal.

Today a customer gave me some useful metal dog run sections on the understanding that l also took an old safe away  and a bucket of odd bits of plumbing offcuts and bolts . I don't  know why but instead of taking the bits l didn't  want straight to the scrapyard l took it all home.  

In the bucket of bits was a key and unbelievably  it fitted the safe!

And in the safe was this.

A Diana SP50

 Quite a scary  looking thing when cocked.  And even after a strip down and lube  the accuracy wasn't exactly impressive . In fact some of the pellets were actually hitting the target sideways.

The aiming point was the dot below the trigger gaurd

Sometimes you get lucky. I bought one of those Diana’s whilst on holiday in Great Yarmouth a few decades ago, I think it was about £12 new. The pop-out pistols always tend to shoot high at close range. We all had gats etc when we were kids, crap they might have been, but we had more than our money’s worth out of them. One of the older lads had taken his jacket off when we were in the woods. Somebody took his packet of fags out of the pocket and we shot it to bits with our gats. He went mad when he came back for his jacket and a quick smoke......

I was missing about with one of those in my bedroom as a kid. My brother was getting changed, as we shared a room and I shot him by mistake in his inner thigh inches from his privates.....

Just goes to show..... Even those things can injure 

He didnt half make a noise.

Crikey  you must've  been close to hit a fag packet!

I used it to dispatch a rat in a cage trap this morning and was worried l'd miss.l didn't.

I think it was practice mate, we used to shoot them all the time. Spent all my pocket money on pellets, took the things everywhere with us. Ahh, the freedom of the good ole’ days when nobody bothered ‘bout nothin’

The gun is a nice find but I would sooner have the Canadian canoe in the first photo if that is what it is.

The gun is a horrid little thing,  but the canoe is really good. Its an aluminium Grumman. Sadly l'm just minding it for a day or two it for a friend who is in the process of moving house. 

My own Canadian canoe is 17feet of 1980's fibreglass; weighs a ton !
