My Crickets

Recommended Posts

They fascinate me. I give them a bottle top, which I keep topped up with their " Bug Gel " water crystals. I've seen them come for that, as if they know exactly what, and where, it is.

But, I just decided to randomly chuck the last of them a bit of well cooked sprout. Fukk me! Instantly, crickets a foot away stopped what they were doing and Dashed for the sprout!

Couple of minutes later? It's just a heaving mass of crickets.

Fascinating things, if we take the time. Must make sure to order the Silent fukkers, next time though. It'd been a trying time ?

My Son used to own a Goliath Bird eating spider that lived under a coconut who was partial to a cricket as soon as it picked up just a slight tremor that a cricket was present in the tank a leg used to appear from under the coconut, and what happened next was only what can be described as your worst nightmare.

I remember it well he owned it on base when he was in the RAF he got posted to Afghanistan and the dickhead he trusted it with turned off the heat mat and alas that was the end of Trevor, I offered to look after but my Mrs threatened divorce ?

Au contraire! Old mate of mine kept a room packed with tarantulas. It was the time he put a live mouse in with one particularly nasty fukker. That fukkin mentally scarred me! :icon_eek:

You know what Ken I wasn’t going to mention the mice but seeing as you have here go’s my lad used to feed live mice to his one the violence is off the scale the speed at which it attacks the poor little bugger is unreal and then clamping down on its head sucking the moisture out is as you say mentally scarring ?.

The thing used to shoot off hairs at you as well which irritated there was absolutely no bonding going on just a real nasty hateful f****r, but strangely I thought it was great.

Sounds great they are very impressive, I’d like to have a go at keeping small frogs in a vivarium you can create a mini rainforest with mist flies etc some pretty good videos on YouTube I’ve seen them in the wild in Costa Rica and they are tiny.

My first spider was a Chile rose (grammastola spatulata) and I've had a load since then up until having kids. I was bitten by that first one which was scary as a kid but the scariest I had was a cobalt blue run up my arm.

I fed an adult frog to the Chile rose but stuck to crickets etc after that ?

I like the sound that crickets make.

I don't mind the regular spiders that we get over here but, who the f**k would want one of them big 'uns ?

......... especially after reading some of the posts on here.

I remember watching one of those Steve Backshall (?) wildlife programmes - they tried to catch a Camel Spider that they found. The aggressive little twat actually ran at them in the end.

I was going to put up a picture of one but, I don't want to put my finger on the image to cut and paste it
