Prob not many outside the regiment even know or ever notice that, well done an that is for sharing pal ?

Cheers mate, you know what I’m like, ha. Soon as the vicar let us move, everyone was taking photos of my cousin and family at the sink thing (font?). I slipped off for a tour :D

I expect I got some curious looks. Churches and cathedrals etc are fascinating places anyway but this one  was a bit special.

is it at caythorpe my mate lives in the village . i think first airboure were based at caythorpe

Looking at the Orbat, signals squadron were based at divisional HQ so yeah that probably explains why the village is so strongly linked to the signals.

How old are you Born, I'm guessing you're not too old to sign up?

Get it done, you won't regret it.

Looking back at my mundane working career it's becoming a regret of mine.

I think the time for that was 10-15 years ago mate. I chose to walk a different path.

Same i often wonder that if we had our time over again.....not sure about all the savagery as im such a peace loving chap :whistling:....but think id of enjoyed all the fitness/togetherness/camaraderie etc

It just wasnt something lads from our area gave much thought to unfortunately.

Not sure about that part tbh as I'm not really a social animal but I think I would enjoy actually thinking you're doing something in life instead of merely working to pay the bills. Saying that I'm just being negative as I have good crack at work so imagine it would be a good experience.

A mate who's a year older than me did all the basic training and what not and decided it wasn't for him, ended up going AWOL and ended up with carbon monoxide poisoning from kipping in his car.

He was the slowest runner ever and not at all athletic, not sure on the fitness criteria but he must have payed them off. ?

Definitely a downside to serving in the forces, I imagine it can be the same for firefighters who see unimaginable horrors.

Still though, not everyone is ruined by their experiences in the forces, you have to remember, many join the railway after leaving and are sound.
