Andrewreynoldshunting 737
As the wind was perfect for lamping the last couple nights I made sure I didnt miss out on a bit of lamping and filming. Not only the wind but the rain has softened the ground again after it started to really dry up. Wednesday night I nipped out local, 5 mins from the house I managed to catch 4 rabbits with Bud. I was solo lamping using the olight torch and I was also filming. I managed to get 3 of the catches on film and a few more misses. It was a great night despite the dog missing a really easy rabbit last run of the night. Thursday night I decided to go to the Dale's with ella. I left Bud at home and ella took Trudy and pip. After an one and a half drive to Ella's we had a 2 and a half hour drive north. We arrived early, knocked a couple farms and picked up some more permission. Anyway we headed out lamping about half 10 after we had some hare curry that ella had prepared the day before. The first spot pip caught 4 rabbits and missed about the same again. We moved to the next spot and caught another 2. Pip was swapped her for Trudy (pips daughter). Trudy caught 6 more rabbits from 6 runs and retrieved them all back very well. Ella was over the moon. I have just realised I have drove 8 hours for 12 rabbits but what a great night we had. Truth is I could have caught that amount local and this is the second time I have been and struggled to get more than 10. It's a shame to see the numbers drop even if it doesn't bother me how many I catch anymore. I'm so glad I have got the numbers game out of my head these days because all my old spots are almost dead for rabbits. Videos of both nights will be on my youtube channel soon. Aussie Whip 3,827
Probably cost a bit per rabbit if you add up the fuel but the satisfaction you get working the dogs is priceless. 3 Quote Link to post
