Even had a godwit regularly nesting outside my place. So, waders are not only acceptable but quite likely.
jigsaw 11,902
I would think most definitely a curlew .....or a wading bird of sorts

But, your LO is just like " Whee - Ooh " Where as mine has a more 'bubbling', 'trilling' thing going on. Have another listen, with that in mind. You should pick up on what I mean. I'm wondering Wader, frankly. Whimbrel pass through here, at a given time of year. Dunno. Maybe Woodcock or Snipe. Cheers Arry
Ken's Deputy 4,462
Checked woodie and snippet, Arry. Woods make a sound like I'd never have believed. Snipe just don't match up. Storm Petrel's just so unlikely as to be off the radar. Plus I just listened to them. Curlew alarm call is as close as I've yet got. Can't find a damn whimbrel alarm! Being as how I know for a well recorded fact there were foxes and a badger moving about there, at that time? A birds alarm call makes sense. It doesn't sound to be flying over either, does it? Wind blown, for sure. But, both calls are equal. As if on the same wind, from the same spot. Down on the flood plain meadow would be my somewhat 'educated' / advantaged guess. But wrong cadence. Anyway, gentlemen, we have a winner! Confirmed Whimbrel! I just consulted an expert. He reckons it's what would be termed a shade early. But, there's been strong, southerly winds and thus they've already been recorded. Ties in with all the other data I have. If I could only now find a verified bloody recording of one! And I do mean Alarm call, as I'm sure this was. Whimbrels normal flight call is completely different and distinctive.

Greb147 6,810
Doesn't sound the same as a whimbrel from the videos on YouTube, similar but not identical.
Arry 24,955
Ken have a listen 30 secs in on this Tawny vid. Cheers Arry
Ken's Deputy 4,462
Agree entirely, Arry. Tawney was my own first thought. Except, logistically, they're a non started here abouts.
