Yes. If you can separate the merit from the personal. Doesn't mean you have to admire the the whole. Would you agree that is one of the big problems in society today? That people have to either fully disregard, or embrace, something without looking at the individual pros and cons?

Yes, I agree that society, and people, are polarised these days.

Left or Right, EU or Brexit, vax or no vax, etc, etc.......

People latch onto something and simply won't accept another persons view or opinion.

Theres an old saying, "a little knowledge is a dangerous thing", and no more so in the Covid vax debat, suddenly everyone an epidemiologist or virologist !

Life isn't black or white.....there's a huge grey area where things overlap.

I spend an awful lot of time studying things before making a decision, probably to long, but being retired I have plenty of time on my hands !

Im a free trade, small government, right winger, but also support the NHS, the benefits system, ( to a degree !), my left wing friends cand understand or accept that !

Theres no shame in saying " hey I was wrong " or " hey I didn't know that"

but people become so entrenched in their own opinion, debate is rendered obsolete !

Cheers.

I do, if I’m aware he was a major contributor. And I refuse to listen to, or give any credit for the influence of the likes of Wacko Jacko, Pete Townsend etc. I’m certainly not coming on a public foru

As a "right winger" the left automatically label me as a racist, oh ! If they only knew ? They automatically label me as anti immigration, but I'm all for controlled immigration; I'd rather have

Same here, mate. Living this side of the pond I get called a liberal because I don't support Trump and his Republicans and I can't post anywhere left leaning because I don't support Biden and his Democrats. When politics inevitably crops up I've called both a communist and a nazi in the same conversation.

It's a pickle.

They automatically label me as anti immigration, but I'm all for controlled immigration; I'd rather have an Indian nurse than a Bulgarian Big Issue seller, or have a Japanese scientist than a Romanian pick pocket, but that doesn't fit in with the Lefts narrative !

Its getting more and more like Orwells 1984; right is wrong, truth is lies........

Cheers.

The trans-Atlantic similarities are pretty damn close, mate. I'm very pro free speech (1st Amendment) so am called racist and anti immigration when I say that Donnie and co have the right to post what they do (I'm a first generation immigrant to the US BTW.) When I say that the tech companies also have a 1A right to allow/censor what they allow on their platform's I'm now pro censorship and pro communism!

I'm anti gun control. Like completely. Now I'm a survivalist nutjob/racist/kid killer. When Trump was elected and I was helping teach gun safety with a group of white and hispanic women I was labelled an insurrectionist communist!

Anti-tax, pro-private business. Now I'm racist/Republican.

Pro-police accountability/elimination of qualified immunity. Now I'm BLM/Antifa.

I would like to see a massive reduction in federal and military spending and an overall shrinking of their scope and power. Now I'm an anarchist.

My personal view is that it's none of my business, what you do, and you should be left alone to do it. I look purely at the individual's rights and assess whether they're being infringed regardless of the conduct. I think the phrase goes along the lines of I disagree with what you say but I'll defend your right to say it...

It's a funny world we live in!

Great Post that ...

So true that we can't look at the benefits of right or left wing politics without being labeled racist or snowflake..

From what I've read a prick of a man...

From what I've heard a genius..
