Born Hunter 17,907
For anyone that looks up now and again, these three are nicely grouped tonight. If the moon wasn't such a slim crescent and more full then it would likely outshine Saturn at the top there and Jupiter at the right. With normal 10x binos you should be able to see at least a couple of the Galilean moons of Jupiter and with maybe 20-40x mag you would be able to see Saturn's rings. Mars is well over to the left of these in the sky for anyone looking. Anyway, something to show the kids maybe now we're getting some clear nights... One of my seasonal interests, gazing at a winters night sky. I was toying with the idea of getting a telescope until the Mrs talked me out of it. In all honesty I think a decent set of binoculars would be better. They benefit from a wider FoV, a brighter and clearer image, plus a hell of a lot more practical. Love watching the sky at night but have a lot of light pollution were I am, one of the things I,m really looking forward to when I get gone is low light pollution, here’s a question for you, since that space X thing began they have allegedly been firing hundreds of satellites up yet I,m not seeing any more than before, was wondering are they a lot smaller and therefore not visible or is there another explanation cheers

The first batch didn’t have this which is why everyone could see them. I think that’s probably why mate. I know your pain mate. I lived in a small town the past 8 years but now in rural Leicestershire proper. Way clearer sky’s and way nicer garden/neighbourhood to kick back and enjoy!

Obviously if you're more interested in smaller details then a telescope is better, I just think you're better off going for something that will actually get used.
