jukel123 9,754
Bloody Finland . One of the richest countries in the world by population. Consistently voted best education service in the world . NO private schools. No streaming. Every child is important whether he/she is thick or disabled. All children are provided with free school meals. The VERY best people recruited as teachers. No archaic class system. No parasitical monarchy. No divisive hunting laws. Thousands of lakes to fish for free. Very high union membership 85%. A THRIVING private sector which works with the unions not against them. First class health system better than our NHS by any way you care to measure it. Very small prison population. No open prisons for the middle classes and shit holes for the poor. Very little crime anyway. Child poverty about three per cent, mostly made up of recently arrived immigrants. Fantastic record on containing Covid. Over eighty per cent of Finns trust each other and have faith in the government , the police and the judicial system. Voted least corrupt country in the world. Army well equipped and they don't fight Americas wars for them. Defeated the Russians and became an independent, progressive very rich nation. ALL jobs have pensions, healthcare and no us and them, management vs worker atmosphere. NO tipping in restaurants since the waiting staff get proper pay. ( I tip in restaurants but I always feel embarrassed for the staff who have to rely on charity to take home a wage.) The only drawback? For you right wingers anyway, is your individual tax burden is roughly ten per cent more than what you pay here. A bargain if you ask me. Oh and unemployment is running at 8%,. Again this is largely made up of recently arrived immigrants. The unemployed however are not treated like shit but are genuinely retrained for jobs where there are shortages. They get enough money to live on. Keep voting tory lads they really care. http://www.stat.fi/tup/satavuotias-suomi/suomi-maailman-karjessa_en.html Edited October 31, 2020 by jukel123

Ken's Deputy 4,463
Sorry. What am I missing here?
Neobliviscaris1776 1,998
Finland on paper sounds like they are on the ball with things which is good for them, but they have a population of around 5.5 million people, far easier to do than with the UK's 65million. It can't be done.

I think the point jukebox is making ( I may be wrong ) is that what is called a ' nanny state ' can work and is infact desirable . I tend to equate it with the over protective mother ,who lets her son stay at home ,she feeds ,clothes and generally looks after him ,til he's in his forties ,and it's too late for him to be any use to himself ,his family or society ....it does nobody any good in the end . 1
jukel123 9,754
Stan Stan the tory man is right. Jukebox is making that point exactly, I am also making the point that it IS working. Working very well. Can you point to a a far right country which scores so highly on international measurements of standard of living, happiness, trust ,equality , lack of corruption, health, pensions etc? downsview 448
Very high suicide rate, and also a high rate of incest, might suit some I think generally the UK scores pretty highly on living standards sadly were not the best but certainly not the worst. Maybe their politicians can be trusted in such a culture, ours can’t......they would inevitably end up manipulating things to buy votes from one section or another.
jukel123 9,754
Sad but true tatablisters and Wilf. Very difficult to make any progress here. The mega rich control all the media and they have a dark presence on social media influencing peoples opinions. There's no appetite for it here people have such low self esteem they are f****d before they start. Its difficult to convince people we don't have to have such inequality here. People think its normal to be treated like shit. Tell you what lads if I survive this f****n pandemic and get a jag I'm going to Finland on holiday. I'll report when I get back as honestly as I can. Over and out, not spending all winter on here got loads of projects to to finish. Over and out

Agreeing with a government policy doesnt make me a Tory or far right mate .
