Gav 1,708
No, I never have. It wasn't even a thing when I started and no one in our syndicate has ever done it, money making scam in my opinion. 8 Quote Link to post
Sausagedog 7,381
I stopped stalking deer when they brought it in on some forestry I was in. I remember it coming in just after the handgun ban. Thousands of handgunners thought ooh paper work...easy peasy. Then they had to drag their first beast out! That was the end of them!! Oh look, no one deer stalking anymore, well I never! 1 Quote Link to post
Stavross 18,488
I’m 90% sure that if you want to shoot it to sell to a game dealer you must have dsc at least you do around these parts, but if it’s for yourself you don’t need one on private land or where you have permission, I’ve never bothered with it and a few proper stalkers I know don’t have it, the people I know that do, sell to game dealers or think a bit of paper makes them look like they know what they are doing 8 Quote Link to post

Phil Phil , always been airgun man , always said not going FAC air then as you know two years ago went FAC air , I said at the time that’s it , not going down rimfire route and look what happens, ended up with .22lr and 17 HMR . I definitely said no more , that’s it , but after a few post I have read and messages to and from Si brown has me thinking. So I blame you lot plus Si brown for my thoughts on centre fire 3 Quote Link to post

You can get that by doing your game meat hygiene certificate, a one day course through NGO. DSC courses offer this as part of the 3, I think, day course for a lot more money. If you are a total novice then perhaps the DSC course is worthwhile but you'd be far better finding someone to mentor you as there is only so much a course can teach you. Experience is far more valuable. I have met stalkers with all 3 level of DSC qualifications who have only ever shot a handful of deer. I shoot and sell a fair number of deer and haven't done any DSC courses. 5 Quote Link to post
