If it's something that's being offered as a benefit - claim it. Yes because the tax man is loaning out money to people who gave him the money in the first place so he can tax them again on it and then make us all pay again in higher tax,s to take the pain away from him lending money to the people who’s money it is in the first place,, Simple rule of life you get nothing for nothing, just be grateful you have been able to go to work and feed your family

HMRC’s guidance indicates that this includes being unable to work because the taxpayer is shielding, self-isolating or is on sick leave or has care responsibilities because of coronavirus. It also includes scaling down or temporarily stopping trading because the supply chain has been interrupted, the business has fewer or no customers or staff are unable to work. The Tax Faculty, advised: “It is not necessary to quantify the impact of coronavirus on the business, but evidence of the factors that caused the adverse impact should be retained.” I've returned to work, no weekends and hours cut see how it goes still having to find £600 just for digs etc a month plus food tools etc, its only really worthwhile if you work maximum hours etc, so 70-80 hours weeks away from home as I've done for a while, I'll most likely not claim a second time, but if there's a spike in a couple of weeks and we're back in lockdown its getting claimed. I know that's not true because I know of people who haven't had a day off that have claimed the first grant.

Yeah but your told to retain the evidence that you have been effected....i think there will be some extra investigation into the accounts of people that have claimed at some point. They have wanted to come after small tradesmen and self employed for a while, I think this will be their excuse and opportunity. I'm claiming fck all if I can ever help it

The amount of snooping laws that have been granted for the next two years is incredible, the taxman has access to everyone’s bank accounts and loads of people boasting that they are having it bang off will be on the end of an irs investigation once all this is over and having been on the wrong end of that in the past I can assure you it’s not worth a couple of grand and bragging rights, 1

But don't think I'm gonna say no to getting a tiny percentage of tax back when I've worked since the age of 16... I’m with you 100% on this.. ive been a subby 25 years raised 4kids and never had a penny off the gov.. had no work since lockdown as site shut and hadn’t seen me bird or kids till this weekend... I’ll be applying for the second grant to
