WILF 44,319
I personally can’t stand this so called “lean” pork from factory pigs. Its dry, it’s got f**k all flavour......I genuinely would never buy it again. Also bacon, can’t eat the shit from shops anymore.......at the moment I get mine from a butcher local and it’s blinding. Dry, smokey......couldn’t go back to the other stuff now. My little piglets are smashing on a treat, fat and healthy. Cant wait.

Search out good bacon and keep going back, get mine from a market stall one man band farmer no white shit comes out. Tried his none nitrate but to be honest bit salty and the colour didn't look nice. I still wouldn't want that much fat even if it was home reared for my freezer.your not getting much meat for your time, effort and money,a butcher wouldn't be happy with that and nor would a customer.

I hear you mate, I suppose that’s the balance we are trying to achieve when you rear your own stuff. Personally I like a good layer of fat, but I agree the pig in that picture looks like it has much too much.

I would love to rear my own pigs, chickens and a couple of sheep.not just for the meat but i'd just enjoy watching them grow natrually and if i don't get the meat yield or it works out more expensive,f**k it.i know it had a proper free range life. I agree with animal rights when it comes to factory farming.
forest of dean redneck 11,190
I know the fat has flavour same as beef etc but think that was bit excessive , I’m sure I read that the old sheep pigs and kune kunes get made into sausages more because they are prone to it??
