Border collie for dogging in ?

Has anyone ever used a border collie for dogging In and or for beating ? If so do they do alright ?

collies are very versatile dogs, they do it easy, i had 1/4 pit 3/4 grey lurcher, and he did it no prob, most dogs with good nose and eyesight can do it .

Great article. One of my favourite ever articles from either the Countryman's Weekly or (as I think it was then) the Shooting News was an article in the 80s or 90s by someone called S Merrell about using pure collies and collie crosses for various fieldsports. It was that article that gave me the wish to one day move from collie etc crosses to pure breds for working. I think there was a collie x Bedlington in the article called Sally.

One of my best bushing dogs was a little border collie bitch. Obviously not got the speed of a terrier through thick brambles etc, but it wouldn't stop her and it was what she enjoyed. She was a very skilful little bitch.

My uncles red Merle pet collie constantly nails pheasants and rabbits it cover whatever it catches he gives to old boy over road from him to eat hardly a mark on them either
