Another Mass Shooting

I'm surprised no one posted this one earlier.

There has been another mass shooting and the gunman detonated explosives before commencing the massacre that left 20 people dead and 70 wounded.

In Crimea of all places. Interestingly the BBC haven't updated their original article as the casualties were confirmed.

The Russians have blamed western culture for the attack and CNN were quick on the scene to call this a US-style school shooting and have focused exclusively on similarities between this incident and Columbine but mentioning the Beslan massacre, where 334 people were killed, in one line. Perhaps it challenges their narrative as this crime shouldn't be possible in a region that is noted for its strict laws on firearms and explosives. In Russia, there is no right for gun ownership under the law. Handguns are forbidden and rifles are strictly regulated. All firearms owners are strictly vetted through extensive background checks and many of Russias provinces forbid the storage of firearms anywhere other than a local gun club.

It's a truly tragic event. They all are. But the lack of follow up journalism on this horrific crime seems to be more politically motivated than my reason for posting it in the first place.

i saw the cctv footage of the lad casually walking round his college blasting anyone he encountered,didnt see it in the main news tho ,made me wonder why??

Russia has had 13 mass shootings since 2015. 4 of them have been in the last 12 months. They have all the gun laws in place that the campaigners want to see. It doesn't get much coverage in the British media and even less in the American media but it demonstrates that the solution isn't as simple as just banning stuff.

I haven't seen anything about this event at all. Still there are hundreds of millions of people out there .

When you look  at that tide of dead and the grief of family and loved ones it all becomes a bit remote. That's a lot of rotting meat. 151,600 a day.  Which one of those 151,600 means anything to you or me. Life is very short we are a grain of sand on the wind.

We aren’t here for long at all,I spent around 45 minutes in a dialysis unit in Ottawa general this morning,my missus used to work there (and the cancer ward) and wanted to see some of her old mates.Cherish each moment and enjoy the ride,soon be our individual turns to step off.

and i thought cali had the strongest gun laws,that should of stopped him
