Marion "Suge" Knight Sentenced To 28 Years

Recommended Posts

The co-founder of Death Row Records, Marion "Suge" Knight, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter from a 2015 incident in Compton, California, where he killed a local businessman with his truck.

Knight pleaded no contest to the charges on advice from his 16th lawyer assigned to the case.

The article doesn't state whether dangling Vanilla Ice from a 20th story window by his ankles to order Ice to sign over the rights to "Ice Ice Baby" helped him get a reduced sentence.

What does ... pleaded  no contest,  mean in law ?

Nolo contendere is a legal term that comes from the Latin phrase for "I do not wish to contend" and it is also referred to as a plea of no contest. ... A no-contest plea, while not technically a guilty plea, has the same immediate effect as a guilty plea and is often offered as a part of a plea bargain.
