Gav 1,708
They've been doing it for years and aren't the only ones. When I was on the small trawlers (under 30 meters) out the Atlantic the French and Spanish factory ships would bully you for ground and trawl their nets over ours, fishery protection vessels never bothered them, but would take great delight boarding us and checking logs, catch and nets. ChrisJones 7,975
Is this in French or international waters? I'm reading conflicting reports.
Gav 1,708
Between 40 and 50 fishermen have taken sea early this morning from TROUVILLE, Port-en-Bessin, or even Ouistreham (Calvados). They did cap on England, off the coast of the Bay of the Seine, to go to meet the English fishermen to the scallop. A meeting that turned into confrontation. Quarantine of french ships surrounded the English ships to force them to stop fishing. While the smoke and name-calling tended more atmosphere, some boats acted in Aries pouncing on others. Three boats are damaged, with holes in their shell. After the first load, the English retreated before counterattack! Boats are again turning around and, in the middle of tense exchanges, the gendarmes are busy. These notably carried out controls with the British. Unfair competition The Normans complain of unfair competition in international waters. Indeed, the fishermen pounding tricolor do not have the right to fish the shell before October 1. The English, they do not face this restriction. Result: the french must often settle for leftovers.

They're still pissy after the RN sank the French Navy. 12 hours ago, scothunter said: Should have sent a royal navy frigate to ram they c**ts. It'd help if we had more than a handful. We could really do with a significant increase in surface combatants and patrol ships if we are to go it alone trading globally. New trading partners will look for security assurances, national defence companies need RN approved products (Type 26, 31 & Tempest) to market and some of our peers (the EU, China, Russia etc) will look to take advantage of our independence. Trade backed by the protection of force is a much safer investment than that backed by hope. Edited August 29, 2018 by Born Hunter historical accuracy
