Their crime was "conspiracy to murder" as they have been successfully thwarted in what the judge described as “terror on the scale of the school shootings that have been seen in America”. They started last year by downloading instructions for homemade explosives and the older of the two had tried to access the shotguns at his ex-girlfriends house, unsuccessfully, and had planned to murder her parents to steal the shotguns at a later date. The dossier of evidence against them shows internet search histories of weapons, idolisation of the Columbine killers and a desire to shoot up the school and kill as many people as possible. Even ingredients for the devices. North Yorkshire police have allegedly dismissed the original complaints that they were wrong 'uns and it was picked up a month later by a specialist counter-terrorist team. Any of you that have followed these events over the last few years will see an alarming pattern in highly telegraphed radical behaviour combined with a clear miss by the authorities. Luckily they were on time this time. Question for the THL panel... Will Britain's super strict gun rules stop this from happening in the future?
