mackem 30,587
I think there are even professional tusk hunters in the Tundra. Imagine having that on your CV,not many people can say they are mammoth hunters
Born Hunter 17,975
Makem, have you seen that there's a market for Mammoth tusks now too? I think there are even professional tusk hunters in the Tundra. Be cool as f**k having a set of them in the living room! LOL Seen programs on it,was it you went in the curio shop in NYC that had taxidermy specimens and fossils? Yes mate. I didn't see any mammoth tusk stuff there though. I saw Jim Shockey recently bought some for his collection and I'm sure I read something about mammoth tusks being in demand now as ornaments and as elephant tusk substitute. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2013/04/125-mammoth-tusks/larmer-text

mackem 30,587
I think my brother is contacting Sotheby's as they have been auctioned there once and have that provenance,he seems to think he can get up to £5,000 each tusk, biggest one is a shade under 6 foot long, not bad for a very small investment

scothunter 12,609
Remember as a kid my aunt had 4 elephant tusks and a rhino horn. she was friends with a guy in the Merchant navy who stored all sorts of stuff at her home. A lot of Japanese stuff aswell. But aye was always fascinated by the tusks.
