si brown 8,486
mark asked me the other day witch rifle I preferred the 97 or 95?! but the prosports been thrown in for good measure... first off the scopes on the ps and 97 are pants/ old spares so probably not a 100% true test but the best I can do at the mo all shots prone no bags as I don't use them in the field and the acid test is what suits me best for hunting the ps has a Hawke panorama thats got parallax and half mil's with puts it in better stead than the other two set at x9 the 95 has an old ed brothers 30/30 that I've set to about 30 yard.. use to use this on the tx last, nice and clear set at x9 the 97 has a Hawke hd 4x40 parallax set at 32yrd zero five shot strings I've had all these rifles in bits and all have been tuned to certain extents... first off I got to say the 95 with a mega polish and tbt drop in kit feels the smoothest on firing but is without doubt hold sensitive due to the lightness of it but if I'm in the zone it'll do a 5p group at 40yrd and has! the ps will put the pellet trough the same hole if I balance it on a cushion and remove my hand but I don't hunt non handed so its shot as I would in the field! and as for the 97 shots are fixed at 4x witch is not best for a target session and the scope is still zeroed at 32yrd so its half mil hold over with no half mil markings!! aghhh so whats my opinion!! I recon with a good basic md scope the 97s going to be lethal the 95 needs more use and I'm pretty sure two new barrel shims cos I've had way better results!! and the ps is probably going up for sale as I think the stock and my hand don't knit together thats my little springer test done, more for a bit of piece of mind atb si 3 Quote Link to post

villaman 9,982
Both of my HW97's and wonky donkey tuned 95 are better than the IMP Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
Very interesting! Love that 95. cheers tom... I should imagine the 95 runs a lot like the 99 you tuned! I love the look of the 95 but it can't take away the usability of the 97.. its effortless and forgiving is an understatement Quote Link to post
si brown 8,486
Both of my HW97's and wonky donkey tuned 95 are better than the IMP I need to change them shims on the 95, ones fecked.. and its lost its accuracy! it was on the money... I've tried all sorts/ everything, and thats all I can think of! I think if you've got a bit of a mechanical mind a home tune goes a long way and because its yours it gets a lot more tlc 1 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
All of those groups are acceptable mate - every shot would have been a dead rabbit But, if you don't get on with a rifle when you're out, there's not much more you can do really 2 Quote Link to post
