Have a look round Oakham and Stamford. Stamford is a cracking Old Money English town with loads of character. I haven't been to the reservoir in years but it's scenic enough.

I enjoy making the effort to go to Stamford occasionally though I'm no expert on the place.

All round there is nice enough. It's the sort of place wealthy English folk retire for an easy life of long pub lunches and coffee mornings with other wealthy English retirees. lol

Rutland Water itself is a bit of a outdoor sports pursuits type center. Ya get mountain bikers and sailors and the likes. I did two weeks work experience there as a kid.

Have a look at Edith Weston. What a cracking little stone village. Mind you pal. You could push the boat out proper, no pun intended, and nip over to Corby. (Little Glagow). Everyone born there is naturally Scottish. LOL Jok.
