jok 3,474
Some of you guys may remember me losing a Jill sometime late February couple of years back. I caught the culprit, a vixen with 5 cubs inhabiting the rabbit bury. Now the question. My mate lost one of two Jill's last weekend and had to dig a long way down to find her. Dead as bread with several bites on the back of her neck. ?? Vixen with Cubs in the first week of the year? He says the smell was horrendous which I imagine it would be as you are shitting and kissing whilst getting killed but I wondered if like minded folk have any other ideas. By the way there is no water anywhere near as in lakes or rivers but it's right next to a chicken farm. JOK Quote Link to post

lifelong cumbrian 1,829
A rabbit can break a ferrets neck kicking it, i know of it happening more than once. Obviously not what you are talking about. A mink possibly. 1 Quote Link to post
Bobtheferret 1,278
Stoat possibly. They are smaller but much quicker than a ferret. Normally bolt but not always. 1 Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,829
I have bolted a few stoats but as you say if one decided to make a fight of it they are very fast and could do serious damage. Quote Link to post
terryd 8,961
Pole cat maybe ? I bolted one a few years ago and it would have done my little jill in no problem if it decided too Edited January 4, 2017 by terryd 1 Quote Link to post
tsteve9999 456
I think Terry may be right, especially with the terrible smell you mentioned. I saw a polecat dead in the road the other day and it would have made 2 of my hob, and he's big for a ferret, so a jill would have no chance against one I should think 1 Quote Link to post
