Daystsate Regal

Recommended Posts

Hi, my mate is giving up shooting with pcp's and has offered me his regal, never owned one before, what's opinion of them ? And what sort of value, it is a complete kit, rifle, scope, bipod, x2 mags, bag and 3ltr bottle with filling whip and probe.

Looks immaculate, I cannot find a mark on it (he has always been a proper tart and meticulous with stuff).

It is rare to see the gun only for less than £650, though there is an exception here http://www.gunstar.co.uk/daystate-huntsman-regal-177-air-rifles/Air-Guns/878517

Simon Pianoman may be able to give you some advice first though as he had issues with his, or look through his posts.

When they are good they are very good but....

Lovely looking stocks on the regals, dont think ive seen one that dont look nice,

Your used to the power curve on a pcp mate so i think youll get along nicely with it.

now the question is regal or tdr ? which ones the keeper lol

DJ

Yes, I also like the look of the regal.

I think the tdr will be going

I have a regal xl in .177,

I got in 2nd hand in march gun only for £515 with a couple of small marks on the action, stock on these are minelli walnut and beautiful the chequering is like velcro.

The only thing is mine and others have been reported as being under power, this is an easy fix yourself (but i wont post how to do this) if you are comfortable doing so,

After the fix on a 200 bar fill i had 107 shots with a spread of 26 fps,

Personally i love this gun and wouldnt sell if my wifes life depended on it lol.

It now has a 6-24×50 hawke nite eye sitting on it and shoots spot on out to 60 meters with jsb heavies 10.34gn or daystate heavies 10.25gn.

Hope this helps...

Thanks FF, excellent info there, I will chrono this one tomorrow when I do a spot of paper punching, a spread of 26 sounds quite high though, I have an ultra that has a spread of 6, and a hw with a spread of 9.

Am wondering what the accuracy will be like then.

The scope on this one is a hawke airmax30.

As a full set up detailed above he is looking for £650, I was kind of under the impression that was top end, but perhaps not after looking online, it really is mint, I cannot find a mark on it anywhere.

Yes lads, I parted my hard earned for it today, I had it for a couple of days playing around, and this morning I run it over the chrono, it's shooting between 11.6 and 11.7

I have not done a proper full string to see what the variation is, I was mainly trying different pellets o see what accuracy was like, couldn't find anything that gave me what I wanted, and was about to say sod it, when he messaged and said 'it's fussy, try daystsate sovereigns'

So, off to my local shop, one tin of sovereigns later and I am whacking 5p's at 40 yards every shot, I put about 300 shots through it, found out 200bar is not good, it likes 190 fills, and it is bull size groups every time, so I bought it.

I think I did ok, the gun really is immaculate, and he told me today he only bought it in April, (I have the receipt to prove it) it comes with the hawk air max 30 scope (new in July), sunshade, two mags, Debden bipod, silencer and the fitting for the barrel if the silencer comes off, three tins of pellets, a bag of targets, fill probe, whip and 3ltr bottle with 3 years test, all in a quality padded gun bag -£650

Nice one Rob - Sounds like you got a good deal there mate

I really like those Airmax scopes. Does it have the AMX reticle?

Yep, it's the amx.

The tdr is now up for sale, will be advertising it this week but have had some interest of a local guy already.
