walshie 2,804
Ok so what about this one walshie. Thread from 2012. Found randomly in search bar. I spent a few moments reading the thread (alone, no guests) and then refreshed to find there was 4 of us... 3 shadows? Lol... I don't know. But I don't like the sound of it....I don't like the sound of it one little bit.
Blackbriar 8,569
Well when I looked at this thread, there was 1 member (me) and 0 guests. I refreshed the page and it said 1 member and 1 guest. So it isn't only old threads that do that. I think it's something to do with you having been on the thread, then coming off it and going back on. Like a kind of shadow of you having been there before, but it can't say you';e on there twice. But it wouldn't be unusual for a guest to be reading this thread would it walshie? It would be unusual for a guest to be reading a thread from 2014, and the one I just searched for randomly. I'm liking the shadow idea though. No, s'pose not, but it's the only thing that seems to fit. Like the computer takes a while to acknowledge you've left the thread so when it "sees" 2 people on there it says you and 1 other. He's behind you !

ChrisJones 7,975
How does everyone feel about surveillance being normalised? We all the know that the technology is out there. It's cheaper, for starters, and consequently more frequently come across. 20 years ago this level of invasion of privacy would have caused an uproar. Now people actually line up overnight to buy a device that will record everything you do, and transmit it to a third party. The standard response, today, is along the lines of "If You've Done Nothing Wrong You've Got Nothing To Worry About" when did this happen? If someone broke into your house and went through your personal belongings you'd feel violated but most people are now willing to throw that information out there to anyone that can receive the data.

Or are we just being told it would be catastrophic to keep the industry running? Edited October 31, 2016 by ChrisJones

It's not a chip, it's a mobile telephone. It's got everything in there including the means to pay and have it billed to your account. If you look at disasters across the world, when the banking system goes down people resort to barter. Like in the old days, I'm not even slightly worried about that! What I'm wondering is why something as invasive as this is as now as palatable as it is. Is it marketing for the latest greatest gadget? Or is it because privacy is old fashioned? No its because people are dummed down to the point that they only relate to what the tv says, fantasy land, an if the programming says its ok then its ok. Not just socially either, morally weve lost ourselfs, look whats trendy these days, combine the stealth attack on morals an seductive programming, an this were were at, theres no love for fellow man, no empathy, f**k all, everyones out for thereselves. More or less mate imo, they dont call it programming for nothing lol Its a big influence on peoples lives, if there were no telly or the webb i think people might just think for themselves.
