Nowhere near as good as some of your set ups as I don't have the room plus this spots only rented so I needed something mobile.

So I decided it was time for a upgrade, the old hutch was leaking water and was pretty rotten and I didn't think it would see her through winter so I bought a cheapy double decker hutch from Pets at home.

After looking at the reviews I realised the quality wouldn't be the best as there were complaints about the floor rotting on the thin ply wood and quality of wood used.

Gave it a lick of creosote and had a bit of lino left from the earlier house re vamp so I thought I'd use that.

Secured it down so she can't burrow underneath and send things flying.

All was well and she looked to be enjoying her new home and shortly after taking the picture there was a bang and of course she had lifted the ramp up and it had fallen on top of her.

Just when you thought it was 'ferret proof' couple of nails to hold the ramp and were away ?

I had mine in sommat similar for a few years. They dont last well but do the job fine. You could out a few logs or/and pipes in for a bit of stimulation and sort a roll down rain cover from a vit of plastic sheeting.

I bought a damaged double one earlier this year,the plastic tray had a hole in it but it had a mesh over floor so it's only droppings falling through.

If it makes it to next summer be a miracle.

I had mine in sommat similar for a few years. They dont last well but do the job fine. You could out a few logs or/and pipes in for a bit of stimulation and sort a roll down rain cover from a vit of plastic sheeting.

That's the next plan ?

Thinking of remove the ramp and use the pipe from lower level to top.

Going to get one of those hammocks too heard they like those.

I don't think I'll have too much bother with driving rain as it's pretty sheltered.

Does anyone have any idea on how to stop her throwing her food all over the spot?

Bought the heaviest bowl I could find and she still nudges it up with her nose and sends the bowl and buiscuits flying.

Thought of getting a recycled plastic container and nailing through it to secure it down.

Anyone else have this problem?

Had the same problem with my ferrets pushing the bowels around, water and food all over the place, so put the bowels in a seed tray fromy the pound shop now the food and water only spill in the tray so a lot easier to clean. The food and water bowels are square so they fit in the tray ok.

Get a steel dog food bowl get a hammer and big nail hit a hole through the middle of it.

Then screw the bowl onto a plank of wood that will stop her moving toppling the bowl over.

Got three of my ferts in the same hutch,one of my mates (a landscape gardner) rescued it from a skip at some posh gaff he was working on.The family had paid well over a tonne for it,but the kids pet rabbit died after three weeks and they decided not to replace it lol,wouldnt pay that sort of cash for it,but its served them fine for the last 18 months atb Dave

Yeah I got my kids pet guinea pigs in bottom and pet mini lop in top, I noticed it didn't take long for the red stain to start peeling off.

Loads of room in them isn't there not surprised you have three in it.

Theres enough room to get her a mate now ? The hutch is overpriced for what it is, was going to have ago at making one but haven't really got anywhere under cover to work on it so I took the easy option.

Amazing what people throw away isn't it, wish I'd have found one someone was throwing out.

find some thing like these and just stick an elastic band around the legs stays on fine then

Ah yeah seen those in budge cages.

I thought of those but i thought a disadvantage would be by attaching to the wire it would risk the food getting wet and spoilt?
