My eldest made this today while i was in work. A jamie oliver recipie called poachers pie which is the name of the cheese you use but substituted with aldi cheddar.

Basically a courgette and cheese pie. Bloody nice with chips and thats my lunch box sorted for the week and it got rid of a kilo and a half of courgettes

The cheese must be what makes it tasty because I've never had a nice courgette dish yet. It must be one of the most over rated vegs there is.

Easy to grow but tasteless.

yes I was expecting it to be bland my self but as it says in the recipe because you fry them for a fair old while you get a nice deep caramelized flavour.

I am not one for eating things if they taste shite and many a sauce pan of my cooking has hit the bin. But I demolished a big chunk last night with fresh chips and beans and had some more in work with just beans. I didnt need to peddle much cycling home sort of propelled me self

It tasted very much of spinach :victory:

Personally I like courgettes. Good addition as a layer to moussaka, some years ago I made a 'corer' from a piece of fishing rod and used to stuff the courgettes with minced lamb and rice and roast in the oven. Wife never used to like courgettes until I made her a well seasoned omelette which she ate within 15 minutes of me picking them. They make a nice bhaji if you don't overcook them. I also like stuffed marrow.

I have some frozen grape leaves, harvested quite young, with which I will be making dolmades, using vegetable rice for the stuffing, a lot of fcuking about but nice as a nibble.

That said, throw me a slow roasted shoulder of lamb and I'll show you how to make it disappear.

Courgette risotto is good too and you can use some of the male flowers in it. Courgette pasta with Parmesan, basil and cream is great also.

I've made courgette, chorizo and feta fritters too when we've had kilos to get rid off which were a hit
