Take her to the gun club with food and plenty of praise, another dog thats not scared to be with her wont hurt either. atb Doug 1 Quote Link to post

ginger beard 4,653
she'll be 4 in april, was never a problem untill bonfire night upset her, but we got over that. when she saw the fire work on n y d with all the shower of sparks next door she bolted.i'll try introducing her to bangs over a distance but i won't hold my breath.every other noise don't worry her just fire works first then it turned into shots being fired.cheers for replys. Casso 1,261
Dogs can deal with most things in a driven mindset , it's the state of mind where everything's in the dogs world feels good, It's how gun and protection dogs assimilate the negetive of loud noise into a positive , it's not a situation of dogs just getting use to it Create the right state of mind and introduce the negetive , the negetive can become part of the feeling of flow 1 Quote Link to post
jiggy 3,209
The record playing increasing bangs wouldnt work on a dog that is terrified when he even sees someone with a gun in their hands and runs for cover id imagine something like bringing an empty gun into kennel at feeding time or leaving it in kennel for awhile until the dog trusts its presence along with the record playing might work but the visuals of fireworks without the noise how do you get him used to that? Keep flicking the light switch in kennel for a few hours every night while the record is playing ha ha you might end up with more mental issues than the dog. Quote Link to post

It wasnt any careful planning just an accident and a bit of luck that circumstances brought her round. 1 Quote Link to post
