air gun ant 1,666
What you shooting? Live quarry or clays? He Probs chucked clay cartridges in as their cheaper, it'll also be a lighter load of smaller shot hence not having much whack to them. Get some 50g 0s and see how you feel lol 1 Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
Its 12g ok thats a start, are you shooting clays.......vermin......pigeons......duck later in the year.......foxes? what are the specs on the cartriges he chucked in? if they are a 24 gram clay load of no7/12 s no they wont have much whack, it is very hard for us to advise on a suitable load, is your gun 2/34 or 3 inch chambers, steel proof etc etc, give us some more info and we might stand a chance mate. the lamping ferreter 160
Sorry it's only a old gun as its my 1st gun I just wanted something to shoot around the few feilds I have at home it's a savage arms 430 12 bore and the cartridges he gave me are called country classic by game bore they come in a green box Quote Link to post
the lamping ferreter 160
And I will be shooting rabbits and pigeons the odd phesent in session and fox if I come with in range Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Looking on Gamebore's own site I cannot find a country classic listed by them, so they may be old stock he wanted to give away, let us assume your gun is 2/34" chambers, this will be stated on the barrels, a decent 32 gram load of number six or five's will do everything you require, for your intended quarry, pick a good brand like Gamebore,Hull, Eley etc, and you wont go far wrong mate, always check with a qualified gunsmith, if in any doubt, but I would bet on it having 2/34 " chambers mate. the lamping ferreter 160
Thanks mate and I will have a look when I get home from work later Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,960
It might also be that your gun is choked more openly than the gun you previously used. Even with a substantial cartridge if you are shooting a very open choke then you'll not get enough pellets hitting the quarry to deliver the quick kill you are maybe used to at a given distance. I'd perhaps pattern it as well as checking the shot size of the cartridge. Quote Link to post
