Gaz_1989 9,539
Well after 8 years of keeping lurchers I've finally found a decent vets. The vets where I lived a few years ago were crap, proper money orientated, trying to force hills science plan on you and pestering about spaying every time I went. When I moved house about 5 years ago I changed vets and these weren't much different. I've since gone through 3 and left the last one 12 months ago after they tried to charge me repeat consultation charges for seeing a dog with an ongoing problem that they hadn't sorted out. I haven't had a lot of dealings with this new vets apart from going for wormers and flea treatment. However I've been today to register the Plummer as she wasn't registered at a vets, they wanted to see her before adding her to the system but it was just a quick health check - they didn't charge me for this. I got 5 drontal to do my 3 dogs, this was less than a tenner and I asked for a bottle of metacam, the receptionist was reluctant to give it me without seeing an injured dog so fetched the vet back out. I explained they were working dogs and I couldn't bring them to the vets everytime they get a knock and that I liked to keep a bottle in the house, she said she completely understood and asked me what size bottle I wanted. She also said that if I ever needed them stitching or stapling out of hours that she offered an out of hours service and would only charge me the consultation fee of £60 if it was a relatively minor job. She knew all about lamping and dogs getting injured at night. She keeps horses and has also got 2 ex racing greyhounds, and she's easy on the eye so that's a bonus. Haha. 13 Quote Link to post
