Cleaning And Sealing Block Paving

Recommended Posts

to be honest..I've never seen anyone seal block paving before..i think it's common practice to give it a jet wash from time to time, and get the weeds out from between the edges,

what would you be sealing it for.....waterproofing...dis colouring...weeds..moss..etc

Get your self a flat surface cleaner it cuts cleaning time in half + a turbo nozzle for the relay bad bits If loads of stains and lichen use hypo spray on then give a light brush leave for 30 min and jet wash off , leave a day then re sand using kiln dried sand if you need to seal it use a quality polyurethane sealant ( roller it on ) bobs your uncle all done

I only fired down sealing from b and q because it was fairly cheap. The stuff I put down and sealed has kept it's colour well. I had a pile of left over unsealed blocks of chucked out recently that had went light pink and white stained. I'm no expert tho maybe a pressure washer would have brought them back up like new

i didn't know there was a sealer made for it.....but if doing it keeps the colour, and keeps it looking newish then it's a good thing, see......i've learnt something today, which will be handy for the future........... :D

Once a year I use a wire paving brush and then the Karcher with the patio cleaner on mine.., then sand. Easy work and looks fine. Get an odd weed but if the blocks are laid right and tight you shouldn't get many.

Never sealed it, and heard it's easy to make it look crap with sealer.., also makes it slippery when it's wet.

I did the jet washing today, it was bloody filthy, had to go over it four times.

Filled a dustbin with the muck.

I bought some Thompsons one coat patio and block paving seal, only £25 but that's about all that's on the job for it.

Hopefully if sunny tomorrow I will sand and seal it.

Cheers for the input guys :)
