walshie 2,804
Hi mate, Not being funny but you have started 2 topics on here and both to do with you getting permission. Did you read the link I sent you in your other topic? This forum is full of people who want permission to shoot, and if they have permission, it's because they did all the legwork and door-knocking themselves, so I very much doubt they would pass any of it onto someone they don't know from Adam. Just saying it how it is. Quote Link to post
jok 3,447
Know what pal. It ain't an easy ride. You need to work at it, gain trust and remain trustworthy. One silly mistake and all is not forgiven. What you are asking for is the Holy Grail and the people you are asking have paid the price to get their permissions. Imagine letting someone loose who lets the side down and then permission lost. Can't happen. Get out there and find your own shooting. My humble opinion of course. 4 Quote Link to post

Cheers Alec Try knocking on doors even if someone's already shooting the land theres still a chance the land owner will let you on......some give out permission but its months in between people turning up You never know you might just hit the lucky day or catch the owner I the right mood Over the years I've gained permissions like that and lost them through neglecting them as I was too busy elsewhere Another thing its all about money these days try offering to pay Quote Link to post
PeskyWabbits 464
Or, try renting some land. Then sub let it to horsey types. Then it will pay for itself. A field could be £70 a year then let out to horsey people for £30 per month. More if you can supply a hut (container or van back). Maybe get some hens or animals on there yourself - livestock attracts nature. Magpies, Rabbits, etc. When you are a livestock keeper then you are in their club. People discuss pest control. They don't want strangers on their land as we have all suffered pilfering or worse. So opportunities come up. Rabbits make holes that horses break ankles in. Rats eat food for hens. Everyone is also scared of rats. Land owners have a legal obligation to keep vermin numbers down. Not sure if you would get prosecuted but imagine if your neighbour is growing crops that are plundered by rabbits living in your field. Maybe i am wandering a bit here but the gist is, you have to be in the community to profit from it. Best of luck Pesky Quote Link to post

Best of luck Pesky if you can rent a field for £70 a year I'll take every field you can get from here in county Durham to the polar ice caps. Lol If anyone wants permission that bad forget your hunting for a little while find a farm you like and go help out, get stuck right in and break a sweat and get you hands dirty, ern some respect and get the permission, but don't turn up, I want to work for permission lol . . . . more like hi I'm looking for a farm I can help out on to learn a little on a Sunday morning ect then slowly slowly catch a monkey. . . once you have one permision and do a sensible job, more will follow in time. 1 Quote Link to post
PeskyWabbits 464
Land rents do vary. But don't be put off. The rougher the land, the lower the price and the better for wild life. Do you have access to moorland? That is almost pence. Also see what is available from your local authority. It is surprising how much land is owned by councils and how inexpensive it can be. If you form a cooperative with your friends, it soon becomes affordable. Fieldsporthunter is right about the helping out jobs. It is hard though, as everything in agriculture is. That's why farmers are so grumpy. Quote Link to post
