However when I go on holiday, I often take a bridge camera like this one and I am perfectly happy with the results. This particular canon has a huge 35mm-equivalent focal range of 21-1365mm. I buy all my gear second hand, you save a fortune, ebay gumtree, preloved all sorts of places for a bargain. I think lenses are more important than the camera body, you need a decent camera but i would spend the bulk of the money on a quality lens or two. don't know anything about canon but you can get a nikon d300 for a couple of hundred pounds and spend the rest on a quality lens, i have a d300 and i can't take better pics on my d700 that cost 3 times as much. hjckcff 1,738 Posted March 14, 2016 Report Share Posted March 14, 2016 go on google. and type in entry level dslr camera. best buy. these are designed for ease of use. check out a few different makes and models . then type in the ones you fancy and add best price. i would go for nikon or canon. if i was starting out i would buy a body. and lens separate and buy what will best suit what i plan to shoot the most. I agree not as good as DSLR, but it's really not bad at all, especially with the massive zoom range and performance at higher ISOs. lifelong cumbrian 1,815 Posted March 14, 2016 Report Share Posted March 14, 2016 Another good thing about buying second hand is you can buy a entry level camera at a good price then when you gain more skills and want to upgrade you can probably recoup the money you paid out so you won't be blowing money upgrading. I got 1200d at Christmas and have a few lens now.. For your budget it would be ideal, with 70/300 or 55/250 canon lens.. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
