Alaunt

Recommended Posts

Some bullX are manny lol Deffo, I keep neither and probably never will tbh but I know a good half can do most jobs ,or at least the same jobs as an alaunt and a be a better runner or catch dog. I like aluants, a lot I'd have one if I needed a big dog that didn't have to run, but if I wanted a big powerful dog to do what ever I give it thn I'd go for a line bred halfX every time. Guys that do heavy lurcher work week in week put seem to keep more bullX than aluants and that speaks volumes to me

Think you hit the nail on the head saying the lads who do lurcher work keep the bull crosses.

The alaunt would not be used for general (or heavy) lurcher work from what I've seen. It's a more specialised dog and the 2 shouldn't really compare.

The all round bull cross would without a doubt leave the Alaunt wanting when faced with a variety of lurcher work tasks.

If you really believe what you have just said you really need to think again mate. Not point scoring or trying to make you look silly but the truth is exactly the opposite of what you said. A good con

So what does the Alaunt specialise at that a decent bull cross couldn't do because for the life of me I can't see what adding a non working breed like a bull mastiff to a bull cross could possibly br

Nothing classes itself as an Alaunt. It's a stupid name that's been made up to market something.

That's very true. Even better if you walk it on a thick choke chain.

I doubt that very much.

Another sack of bullshit from plummer. Crossing a Bull to a greyhound will only ruin a good greyhound unless its the right strain of bullterrier. That is hard enough without adding breeds that are shadows from history that can only add a different look but definatley no substance.

So what do they specialise in that a well bred bull cross can't do ?? I would imagine that the serious bull cross lads and I dont mean the messer brigade, wouldn't touch one with a barge pole and find them a bit of a messers dog tbh. atb

I meant do same job an more, not better. I'm talking a fractions of a second here between them killing summat, a good bullx hardly struggles so yeah it's doing same job, and some bullxs are as big and powerful as a aluant anyways

And some alaunts are as racy or racier than bull crosses.

So where does one stop and one begin?, they're all bull types at the end of the day and the size, weight and shape of the dog will have more bearing on its capabilities than how it is actually bred.
