neil cooney 10,416
Is that the book you were talking about in the other thread King ? I've seen the 2 hour long documentary on her called "Juliette of the herbs". One of the best documentaries I've ever seen, fascinating. But, she was no working dog person and if I remember correctly I think she was a vegetarian. She also had her own family of Afghan hounds and used to watch them for hours to see what herbs they ate to cure their ailments. But how she can say that inoculating a dog slows them down is beyond me. Edited January 5, 2016 by neil cooney 2 Quote Link to post
planete 120
I rarely bother to disagree with anybody but I have to put in a word of warning about the woman' s "cures". I read the book years ago and tried some of her remedies but soon gave up. It is no substitute for proper vet care. It is full of"somebody said" and old wives' tales which she repeats without any hard evidence. Sure some of the old remedies are useful and I will use herbal medicine for some minor ailments but her book went to a charity shop I am afraid. 2 Quote Link to post

socks 32,253
So if a greyhound trainer told her that feeding your dog carrot tops will make it go around a second faster would she put that in a book ... And would you believe it ... The greyhound trainer could be a complete idiot as far as we know who by the sounds of it was talking out of his Arse ... If there is no concrete evidence then it's not for me ......... 3 Quote Link to post

And was talking the truth. Like I said I don't know her or the dog trainer but not everything written in books is bullshit.there could be some truth in what she says.and yes she may be full of shit and lies. Who knows. neil cooney 10,416
It's a pity that she put that in her book. The documentary really is very good and interesting. 2 Quote Link to post
Somewhereyournot 1,117
If it was a fact surely the greyhound trainer name will be mentioned 1 Quote Link to post
fireman 11,389
I have had that book for 20 years or more,it's advice got my lurcher through parvo a couple of years ago when the vet said pts and many moons ago i got a dog through distemper with it's advice.I take my dogs to vets but i sure as shite don't take their words as gospel, but i also don't take this womans words for total truth either but a lot of what she says does make common sence. Most modern drugs are based on old herbal ones or herbal extrac's so to totaly knock it all is a tad foolish imo... 7 Quote Link to post

He was a top trainer he would be happy to be named about his revelation lol ... Just think about it logically how can a jab against a diseas as a puppy possibly slow down your dog as an adult ??? All my greyhounds were jabbed and they held a few track records and won some top open races so the Jabs certainly didn't slow them down ....... 2 Quote Link to post
Raymond 618
If the fella was that good at the grey hounds why didnt he stop jabbing his dogs so they would run faster and winn races with them running faster. How many trainers are there, how many greyhounds have been practically tested this way and proven that when they where jabbed they ran slower. Did they run slower for the rest of there lives or did the effects of the jabs slowing the dogs down wear off. Did the trainer still race his slowed down dogs or was he winning races with these slower dogs. Quote Link to post

Right think about this logically socks what you are saying.you can't say the jabs never slowed your dogs down.because you never ran your dogs without being jabbed. Quote Link to post
