My First Attempt At An Owl

Recommended Posts

Well another miserable day up here in

Fife, so decided to do up a Barn Owl,

as I said I would do one for my daughter.

Pretty happy with how this turned out, seeing

as first Barn Owl I've ever done, think it's a

Pretty good effort (even if I say it myself..lol)

LOL, no. I actually seen it lift in front of my mate and as it was a snipe or two we were after I hoped he wouldn't make a snap shot.

Thankfully he had it seen and admired it too.

They're a beautiful bird and I'll never forget bolting one with a terrier years ago that casually flew into a tree and watched me for several minutes.

Out shooting Sunday morning walking a small bog for Snipe a Short Eared Owl got up right at my mates feet. Fantastic birds.

Good effort that.

Funny that Neil, we have one wintering on our shoot. Magic birds, saw it coming down the hedge line last week so squeaked it to within 6 foot of me. Like big moths they are floating round.

Shooting this morning found one with it's head and breast eaten.

So in a funny way that's two I've seen in a week, one very healthy, one very unhealthy.

The one we found today looked skinny.

Would it have been a weakened Winter visitor ?

And I'm guessing a Buzzard was the culprit ?

For a bird that we see once or twice a year to see twice in a week is very unusual indeed.
