Stumpy Tail Acd Dogs?

Recommended Posts

was reading about them ,what great dogs they are, they like acds but more of a working strain than acd over here, which are just show dogs. if you could get the working stumpys over here what goog dog you have. make good compaions ,healthy ,fit /strong, and hell of a guard dog, and if x back to a lurcher better still, i know P/L done well with this x years ago, speckle, but even in pure form if from working stuff, still nice size dog to have about you as good pet/ guard dog, wonder if there stumpys bred over here as working dogs,??

Heard they put gsd to shame when guarding. That was in a gsd book as well.

that would'nt surprise me being honest, a fair few gsds are just big soft things, Buck my 1x gsdx grey, is crap guard dog he like people to much he the same with other dogs big softy ,ok he only 1/2 gsd and 1/2 grey, but you think being 4/8 gsd it might have come through , but he full on in the field when hunting his quarry,. as i am getting older i did think i might have a smaller type dog in the house, for bit of company and as iam hard hearing it would be useful as well to have around me. it wouldnt be for a while as only got room for 2 dogs outside bryn 8 year old,Buck 3 year old,and prob be my last lurcher that i have.so its few years yet could be maybe 5 years time when bryn gone.. i have me son jack woody its ok but not really in to little terriers, the acd a nice size i think for around your place, i have it out in the day in kennel+run but bring it in at the night as a guard dog, my wife dont like them , but foof what she says i will get one when i am ready fact, she dont do nothing for my dogs dont feed them, walk them nothing so feck her  would be nice when i want one ,that it come from working lines or at least have some in its ped, but like i say most are just show acds here ,dont think there many stumpys over here working in Oz they work them regular, maybe get one sent over but that would brake the bank lol

Why would you want a pet to be from working dogs? Surely you'd be asking for trouble with a potentially highly driven highly strung dog stuck doing a meaningless task

I think he might mean pet/worker mate as in tagging along on mooches bushing etc whilst being a loyal companion and looking after the property with then also the option to breed I personally think they'd be a good addition to any kennel ; )

spot on  , yeh any type of dog pet or worker ,rather it came from working lines , than just a show dog that lost its worke= ethic  , as said it wont be till bryn gone anway and that could be 3-5 years, and having a dog that will guard i think a bonus where ever you live ,Buck dont as ive said before, and if i dont have another lurcher which i prob wont , this type of breed would be spot on , well i think so

I've always liked the idea of getting an ACD as a general mooching companion/guard in the house. Think I'll go down that route when I'm after my next house dog, they sound perfect for it as long as you can keep them busy enough

Yeah that's my thinking, bit smaller than a GSD or Rotti but still a formidable guard dog. Perfect for in the house  As forest of dean says though the problem is finding one and not paying silly money for it, I've seen them going for a grand  Edited by BGD

Kelpie do what you want an easier to find

Aye that's a good point actually I never though of kelpies, easier to find from working stock too

I do prefer the look of the ACD but not enough to pay a grand for one
