Problems With The Auction House!

As some of you know sometimes I frequent the auction at Holts and espying an unloved Super 10 mk 2 we placed a bid and purchased it. It was sold without magazines or buddy bottle. We got it home, decided to have a look at the inside, now the gun was not on their FAC sale section. It was listed as sub 12. Which was a problem.

The regulator had "Export Only" on it. Now those of us familiar with the Super 10 will realise that this meant that the regulator was not for sub 12, this was an FAC gun.

I phoned them up shortly before they shut for the weekend. I was told it was not their fault as they had no way of testing it to see what the power was. This is a bit damned stupid. You can see if the gun is probably FAC by removing it from the stock in the case of the Super 10, R10 and Hornet. The FAC regulators bear the sticker "Export Only". Failing that if you do not know how to do this, contacting the police and checking the FAC register is another damned good idea.

Holts had done neither.

The gun was placed in the care of an RFD who tested the gun and it was way over the 12 ft lb mark.

Holts have eventually refunded the money to the card it was paid on, nothing for the worry or wasted time. They also wanted us to bring the gun back. I did tell them they could collect it from the RFD themselves. Now before you think that it is really an airgunner only problem, what happens if the same level of care is shown on checking a semi auto or pump action shotgun. What if the nice shotgun turns out to be a section 5 because they could not be bothered to check?

 

Beware if buying from Holt's as you may get more than you bargained for!

Ffs for one the only way a shottie can be a legal worry is if it's capable of shooting off seven carts and you don't have a cert for it (technically you shouldn't even be able to fart in it's vicinity). Two you basically brought attention to yourself be it good or bad, who's to say they won't tell you to fuuck off next time you see a wee bargain? as Wilf said, keep it shtum

Who was the last person that you know who got lifted and had their air rifle checked for power?........in fact how many people know anyone that ever has ?

 

It's a bit like using your mobile in the garage, it's a fire risk except nobody in the world ever has or knows anybody that ever has burnt a garage down with one !! Lol

 

You don't think for one minute that all the people in the air gun section are killing mountain goats from 4 million yards using sub 12s do you?? Lol lol

An FAC rifle is worth less than a sub 12. Simple reason being most people can own a sub 12, only FAC holders can own a section 1 air rifle. So immediately the gun is worth less if it is FAC.

 

How would you feel if you had bid on a car described as being a MIni Cooper and got there to find you had won the bidding on a Mini One?

Well I for one agree with you Mole, ignore these heathens, what can they possibly know about the intricate workings of an air gun or for that matter an air gunners mind.

Move it to the air gunning section, you'll get more positive feed back and very possibly a ten pager.

No its not worth less. I guarantee you I could get more for an fac rated gun than a sub 12 gun.
