After a great deal of thought and with a short list of 4 guns, The HW100KT came out on top. Laminate adjustable stock, .177 and a Deben bipod.

After 40+ years of competition clay guns with semi pistol grip stocks, I wanted to try out the thumhole design and after testing a gun, I found that for ME, it helped with my stance/grip for freestanding shooting that I was struggling with. This thing sits just perfect for me and remains very steady, now of course this could be the whole gun but in my eyes it works.

 

As for .177, well it seems there are a hell of a lot of guys out there using .177 to great effect as of course there are with .22 guns but to be honest I have no idea if I will love the cal or lothe it however also bear in mind, I have not finished buying yet and there will be a new .22 in the stable at a later date, perhaps not the same gun, possibly a FX Wilcat which I nearly bought or perhaps an Ultra SE or R10 and either of these will be sent to Ratworks for a custom rebuild for a plan I have in mind.

 

In a couple of months Mac, I may agree with you but not yet old boy not yet.

Thanks David, just need to start looking for a perm now and hopefully with that cooler weather on the way, the rats will start to be more of a problem so fingers crossed.

For what it's worth I am a Fosters man but can get away with Carling as long as it is extra cold.

I was sure I would get the thumb hole model but after handling and using the sporter I am a 100% sporter fan. Good job we all like different things.
