mark williams 7,568
Just got in with a big satisfied smile on my face . My farmer mate asked me could i try and get a very elusive large crow that is frightening the new, very young Turkeys stupid. Apparently, when scared, young turkeys will huddle up in a corner so much so that it is quite common for one or more to be suffocated and this happened yesterday morning. This large corvid was seen to land on the roof of the small barn, peer in through the roof vents above the turkey pen and drive them wild with its cawing. I threw a double helping of camo netting over a nearby tractors cabin yesterday afternoon and returned at 6-15 am this morning to sit and wait. I wasn`t there longer than 20 minutes when a rather large crow flighted in, oblivious to me being there. The turkeys could be heard quite clearly nervously shuffling about inside the pen. I was in wait with my preloaded HW 100 kt on a bi pod, placed the cross hairs just behind the crows eye, set my breath, slowly ex haling and gently squeezed off the trigger, "Crack" ! The crow just crumpled instantly, rolled down the asbestos roof and fell to the floor. So like the old country ways, that corvid is hanging upside down by one leg on bale twine, with wings open on the turkey pen barn and should keep any other corvids away. Thats a few brownie points down the farm i reckon Edited September 6, 2015 by mark williams 8 Quote Link to post
