And We're Off!!!!!!!!!

As with any hunting morning it starts off well before day break with a bowl of porrage and a quick slurp of coffee, then it's northbound to meet my hunting partner. Once all the relevant equipment is loaded into the van off we go, whilst meandering through the country lanes as dawn broke we watched 2 barn owls, 1 hunting the other being mobbed by a couple of crows. Once at our chosen destination we collared the ferrets up,got our gear together, including my mates best friend in his pocket we hadn't gone far when the farmer caught us up the quad on his way to check on some stock, he said there was plenty about but at the far end of the fell my I had made appearance, his collie had picked a few up on his earlie morning rounds, just what we didn't want to hear. Anyway we waited for the lurches to mark the first sett of the day we netted up and put a polecat Jill in, we soon had the first 5 in the bag in no time we had the game carriers full and so far no sight of myxomatosis onward and upwards we made our way up the fell the sun was out but there was a slight breeze, we got to the far side of the fell when we bolted 6 with the first signs of myxi, we just let the lurches mark, nets on ferrets in rabbits our with a few shallow digs thrown in for good measure the deepest being 2ft then a most unusual sight unfolded before my very eyes we ended up with a total of 49 fingers crossed the dreaded myxi doesn't come through and ruin our season, it's not too much to ask is it? Time will tell!!!!! cheers neil b
