Alabama Rot Confirmed In Wigan

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately, we have had some bad news this morning. Our colleagues at a practice in Leigh have made us aware that they have treated seven suspected cases of Alabama Rot. One of these cases has now been diagnosed and confirmed by laboratory testing and they are awaiting results from two more patients. We are having a meeting with the other Wigan veterinary practices and Wigan Council next week, and we will keep you updated. In the meantime, we are recommending that you keep your dogs away from Lilford Park in Leigh. If anybody has any concerns regarding the health of their dog, please contact the surgery on 01942 824455.

WTF's Alabama rot?

Think it's also known as seasonal canine disorder.........usually comes around autumn time, frost usually kills it off. Usually get it around woodland. Lost one of mine to it not long back in s Yorkshire. They go off food, throw up.....another tell tale sign is little red like spots of front of shins. Still don't think they know what causes it. Mine died after been on a drip at vets.

Bloody hell that's all we want,

These things do happen though. When parvo first appeared it was looking like total disaster for a while but now, although it's still a problem, it is under control.

I remember parvo, when it first appeared, it was a disaster for me, we lost a bloody good dog to the awful disease, I wonder if this is as a result, of lapses in quarantine laws and that bloody tunnel,
